The surroundings of Alessandria are populated by beautiful castles and villages that are worth visiting (here you will find the most beautiful villages in Piedmont). One of the most beautiful is Reneuzzi, in the upper Val Borbera: an abandoned village with a unique charm. Acqui Terme has been a spa resort since ancient times. In the center of the city, the Bollente, a 75° spring, flows from a nineteenth-century marble aedicule. After a thermal bath, a glass of brachetto or Dolcetto d'Acqui is a must. The Sacro Monte di Crea Natural Park is a park of beech trees in Monferrato where the sacred road of the Sacro Monte di Crea is located. The Marian sanctuary stands on one of the highest hills in Monferrato. The road to get to the monastery is dotted with 22 votive chapels at which you stop to pray as you walk towards the top of the mountain.
