Camping and cooking in the Pliocene Spur nature reserve

The Il Granello farm is located in the Contrafforte Pliocenico nature reserve, 30 minutes from Bologna and 1 hour from Florence. The area is hilly and cool, rich in paths, plants and animals. Wolf, roe deer, fallow deer, wild boar, hares, porcupines, badgers and foxes can be observed during walks. You can stay with your tents in different areas, close to the farm or a little further away in tranquillity. We have a glamping tent available for those who want more comfort and facilities. Ideal for those who love peace and quiet in nature but also enjoy historical and cultural itineraries in cities of art. We have a small country restaurant with BIO products and can prepare tasty dinners and breakfasts. On Saturdays and Sundays there is no shortage of themed events, music or theatre.

The services available are water, electricity, lighting, wifi, a reserved car park, pillows, blankets and breakfast. You will have a shared fridge, bathroom and kitchen. Outside you will find a table. Check-in is available 24/24. The area is fenced off. The experience is suitable for couples, families with children, groups of friends, as well as solo travellers. Your four-legged friends are welcome.

About 15 kilometres from Pianoro stands, isolated, the Monte delle Formiche, from which there is a beautiful view and which owes its name to a curious natural phenomenon. Around 8 September, the day of the feast of the Madonna, swarms of flying ants reach the summit as far as the sanctuary of S. Maria di Zena and die there. At the foot of the mountain is the Castle of Zena, built near the stream of the same name. The castle, like the sanctuary, is also of medieval origin, but the architecture has composite elements from the 14th and 17th centuries.
